DANIEL EATON’S WILCO’S STREET ART FOR LOCAL HOMELESS CAUSES
In recognition of Daniel Eaton’s magnificent street art and project on the boarded up entrance to the former Wilco store in Leighton’s High Street.
Money raised here will go to the artist ‘Daniel’ for him to support helping local homeless causes as per his idea, the commission and his pledge.
The hoarding on which the art-piece has been painted upon, was originally erected as a blank wooden hoarding- barrier, by the landlords of the former Wilco, at the request if the authorities, to effectively evict homeless rough-sleepers from sheltering within the under-cover porch area of the former High Street store, which had been seen by some as “a problem”.
The eviction of the homeless attracted much local controversy. Lots of public-concerns was expressed on many arenas of local social media, expressing concern for the welfare of homeless people who had effectively been branded “a problem” and “moved on” but with no clear explanation of a tangible solution.
Funds raised here will be passed to Daniel or direct to his specified designated causes and confirmation will appear here of that dispersement.
The artist wants to turn a negative situation into a positive, by turning the eviction site into something that can generate money to help “the problem” of homelessness in some way and that is what this mutual is all about.
Your donation no matter how small or big is very much appreciated.
Daniel also pledged to collect donations by the mural itself and you will probably see him around, if you are in town.
