Dance Chico! Support Shalom Free Clinic

Hi! This is Lauri and Rose!

We are excited to launch a monthly dance event in Chico! Our vision is to revitalize the dance community that has been deeply affected by the Camp Fire, COVID-19, and economic challenges.

Chico once thrived with dance studios and social dancing opportunities, but now there are very few places to enjoy organized dancing. We believe that bringing people together through dance can uplift our spirits and strengthen our community.

What We’re Doing:

We’ve partnered with The First Christian Church on East Washington Street and the Shalom Free Clinic on Mangrove to host a fun-filled dance night every month. Each event will include a free 1-hour group dance lesson designed for beginners, and 2 hours of social dancing.

Why It Matters:

All profits go directly to the Shalom Free Clinic, a vital resource for our community. Located at 1010 Mangrove Avenue, the Shalom Free Clinic provides 100% free medical and psychiatric services, food, and clothing support to those in need. They help individuals who are homeless, underinsured, or unable to afford copays.

Recently, the Shalom Free Clinic has also introduced portable showers for the homeless population near the airport and is bringing showers to the community in Cohasset, where many have gone without a hot shower for months since the fire. Furthermore, they run a program that brings psychiatric doctoral candidates from around the world to experience rural medicine, aiming to attract more healthcare professionals to Chico and surrounding areas like Paradise, Durham, and Corning. This clinic runs solely on volunteers, and their work is essential for many in our community.

Our Goal:

To kick off this exciting venture, we need to raise $1,000. This funding will cover our startup costs—the venue custodian, money for a dance instructor, and miscellaneous things like paper plates and promotional materials.
