On late Monday night, June 2nd 2025, I Carly said good night to Dan as he was staying up to finish the movie we started..I was later awoken by our cat coming into our room meowing deeply, much different than usual. Alarmingly different...I then felt like something wasn't right. I got up to see what was going on wondering why Dan wasn't making any noise or tending to our crying cat. All the lights and TV were still on. I then turned the corner to find Dan on the floor unresponsive. It was the most frightening thing I ever saw..it was obvious he lost oxygen for some time. I then called 911 and proceeded with CPR immediately. After several minutes passed with prayers the paramedics came and took over. Dans heart was not beating on its own and his breathing was shallow if anything at all, for some time. It was a living nightmare..once Dan arrived at the hospital with life back in his heart and lungs we tried to talk to him. Which we quickly noticed was a struggle. He was set on a short term memory loop and still struggling to breathe. They did an X-ray on his chest from the compressions to make sure nothing was broken and found and infection in his lungs as well. I was so concerned with what they were telling me about his brain that I couldn't comprehend the obvious. He suffered cardiac arrest at 42 years old. He then spent a couple days in the ICU and then into a regular room until that Friday. Due to lack of oxygen to his brain he has struggled with memory loss. We have two beautiful kids together, an 8 year old daughter and 3 year old son and I am a stay-at-home mom. Dan is now home for some time and will need to do some therapy for his memory ECT. We don't know what to expect as far as that cost a long with the hospital bills just yet. Dan did not have insurance.
Dan is a dedicated hardworking employee/manager and father. He is also the love of my life for the past 17years. He is an amazing drummer and enjoys playing in his band with his twin brother. This has shaken our world tremendously! The fact that Dan survived was rare from what the doctors said. But we are so grateful! As we journey through the aftermath of everything I'm here asking for support. Dan is such a kind soul and always making sure we all have what we need, I want him to be able to rest easier without the stress of finances. He only needs to focus on resting and gaining his memory back at this time. If anyone is willing to help out our family we would greatly appreciate it. I'm not sure what to ask for as far a goal is so I started with that.. anything at all helps. And I ask for friends or anyone to please share this as well if you can.
Thank you so much. ❤️ The Wills family
