Please help Dan and Summer make their home accessible for Summer’s mom and more durable for their 7 kiddos (from age 4-19 years old) with varying needs who are currently living at home!!!
If you don’t know Dan and Summer, they are pretty much super heroes in ordinary clothing and strive to be the hands and feet of God. While most of us can “go home” from work and rest, Dan and Summer are constantly at work. 5 of their 8 sweet kids are adopted from the foster care system. As you can imagine, many of their kids come from trauma and are neuro- atypical and require much of Dan and Summer’s attention. In addition to caring for their kids, Summer’s mom also lives with them. Unfortunately, she is in an intense amount of pain everyday due to rheumatoid arthritis, and she recently broke her hip. Because of these issues, she is unable to walk. Fortunately, she is going to get a wheelchair in the next month!!! However, most of Summer and Dan’s house is not wheelchair accessible, nor does it fit their kids’ needs. Dan and Summer need to take out all of the carpet in their house and put in more of a durable laminate floor for the wheelchair and to be waterproof for the many little hands who drop things on the floor :). They also need to fix their wheelchair ramp to get inside their home. Lastly, they need to take a wall down between their kitchen and living room to make the small hallway much more wheelchair accessible and for Dan and Summer to see what their kiddos are doing when they are in the kitchen.
