Students of Damdami Taksal Jatha UK and Europe over the past 2 years have been searching for a site to make a Gurmat Vidyala (education centre) with Sports Facilities. With Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji’s blessings the process for the purchase of a site is underway in the West Midlands, one mile from Junction 2 on the M5 motorway.
The site offers 4.6 acres of land including a car park, football pitch and building (previously used as a social and sports club).
We require £650,000 in order to complete the purchase of the site and to date (20/01/24) we have already raised £70,000, so please donate and help us reach our target.
The main objectives of purchasing the site are:
1. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Seva: To uphold the respect of Gurbani by performing the Seva of Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Pothi Sahibs and Gutka Sahibs. Will also provide opportunities for the community to learn how to do Seva of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
2. Teaching Gurbani Santhiya (correct pronunciation of Gurbani), Katha, Kirtan and Gatka. Experienced and knowledgeable teachers in their respected fields will teach to produce the future Paathi’s, Giani’s, Ragi’s and Ustaad’s, which is greatly lacking within the UK.
3. Panjabi School for children, young people and adults: We have seen that due to a lack of structure many people have missed out on learning their mother tongue.
4. Sports Facility: To create a state-of-the-art sports facility for the local and wider community, which will offer a grass football pitch, multi purpose sport fields and gym. It is common knowledge that Sikh's are behind in this field but have great potential. This facility will not only provide a safe space but will also provide the motivation and coaches young people need today.
5. Mainstream Education: We will provide free school tuition for children to help them thrive in their education and future development.
6. Provide the use of the facilities to other organisations / groups to support the work they are doing for the local / wider community.
