As the last of our dam building team members return home from India on Thanksgiving, we are thankful for the opportunity to wrap up our 15th check dam in a rural village in Rajasthan India. We are thankful for the group of volunteers and Rotary clubs that made it happen, and all of the support we had from our families, fellow Rotarians, donors, and friends who enable us to pull off projects of this scale. Please consider supporting our 2025 project with a donation. We will aim to get all donations matched by Rotary Clubs and/or Districts as the grant is processed for 2025. This check dam will capture rain water from the monsoons that would otherwise run down the valleys and not saturate into the ground. A 7 foot tall dam holds back enough water to raise the water table from 500 feet below ground to just 70 feet during the driest season of the year. The availability of a year round source of water impacts health, sanitation, crop yields, and the overall economic potential of 12,000 people in this village and the 9 others that surround it.
