Hi my name is Lolita and I am the owner of In Living Colour Studio, Dallas, Tx 1st Black woman owned Art Studio for the Cultural.

Dallas Texas has many art studios but none that caters to Black and Brown people. I wanted to create a safe space for the Underrepresented people in our community. Our Art Studio is a place where you can paint and see Black and Brown Images. Before In Living Colour, I didn’t see much art that showcased marginalized communities when I was growing up.

Covid-19 pandemic and the movement for the liberation for Black lives have taught us how much we needed a safe place to go to release Stress. Our Art Therapy classes has help so many people in the community to embrace what we call “self-love”. If we can admit, these past two years have been very stressful. So many have lost love ones, jobs, homes etc. We at In Living Colour wants to be that special place where “for just a few hours “ the stress and troubles of this world can be silenced. 

After teaching for 12 years, I decided to quit in 2021 to open In Living Colour Studio. It’s been such an exciting adventure. Unfortunately, because of the Recession, High food and gas prices etc., Our studio has suffered!

We are in need of your help! We are asking the community to donate as little as a dollar to fund the Studio and our Art Therapy Program for the next few months. We have been diligent in applying for grants and loans but we have had no luck so far. Please consider donating to help this small business continue to impact the Black and Brown Community with Art that they can relate to.
