A Fresh Start

Hello - I am an educator in the Portland, Maine area who has close contact with a family who came here from Central America for a better life. The hardworking, heroic single mother of 4 (and granddaughter of 1!) has just begun a new job and works tirelessly to support her large family. Unfortunately, her start has not been very easy, and she must flee an unsafe environment and start fresh again in a new place to live. With Covid-19 relief drying up, she is left without the proper funds to support herself as she searches for a new place which according to her husband and landlord she must find within 60 days. 
I often think about the American Dream and what the reality is for people who come here seeking a better life. I think we can do better. Please consider donating to help her cover her first 2 months of rent in a new, safe, home for her family, and BRILLIANT bilingual children with big dreams.
