Myself and Graham are doing the Kilt walk on Saturday 26th April to support EK district carers group, please help us to help them…..
Over the last few years Brian, Donna and the team have been a true source of companionship and a little escape for our wee dad/papa.
As I’m sure many of you have experienced, we go from caring for our children with the support of our parents to noticing our parents become more dependent and then all of a sudden, we are caring for both children and parents while trying to navigate every day life. It’s hard to juggle everything and still have time to help our elderly families to still socialise in a warm and safe environment with people who really care.
This is where the team really step up to the plate, I am eternally grateful for their time and energy in helping our wee dad to stay happy, engaged and keep his mind ticking over (usually with mischief and bad humour) haha.
EK District Dementia Carers Group organise day care and day trips for so many local residents but don’t have the financial support they need or the government funding to keep everything running smoothly……..did you know, that as well as gas/electric and the costs of the minibus, that they have to pay to register with the care commission £1700 per year…….just to be able to help our elderly, this is just such a shame.
Every penny raised will go to the charity to help with these running costs. This is such a worthwhile cause. If this group has helped you or anyone you know then please give anything you can spare to help them, even if you’ve had no involvement YET, then trust me, if it affects your family in the future, you will definitely need this service to still be operating when your need arises.
Thank you guys, you’ve made such a difference and I hope we can return just a little of that support back xx
