I’m writing this because my dads garage had a huge fire last night, he is absolutely devastated it was his whole life in that garage, he would spend hours and hours working in there on his wood carvings and different art projects as it is his hobby. He is in there more than he is in the house.

The fire started from and angle grinder which must’ve sparked and landed on the floor and smouldered, he is usually very careful and makes sure the floor is clean in there and waits in there after using it but he got called into the family home and he went in the house for 10 minutes. In that time his whole garage went up in flames, huge gusts of smoke covering the whole street, garden and smoke entered into the family home and has caused some smoke damage in the kitchen. The fire brigade were absolutely amazing and got to the scene and put the fire out minutes after the call was made, we can’t thank them enough, they stopped it spreading even more as it was on its way to the house.

The devastation this has caused my dad is awful, he had hundreds of sentimental items including his grandads and dads(who are no longer with us) artwork, paintings, paintbrushes and pictures of them. Many antiques that cannot be replaced, all of his tools (ban saw, sander, drills and much more) even his carving knife got destroyed, there is nothing that he can salvage from this destruction. Over 40 years worth of fishing gear in there has all been ruined.

He spends every living breathing minute in there so it’s hard for him to adjust, he can’t create any of his artwork now and has set him back massively. Everything he has worked for and built up over time was in his garage.

Donations would used for hiring skips to get rid of all the damage the fire has caused and to help clean it all up, the roof needs repairing and all doors and windows are ruined.

Any amount of donation would be hugely appreciated by himself and the family.

Me and my sisters have created this for my dad after seeing the massive effect it has had on him. We don’t even know where to start.
