Help Lydia help others

We want to introduce you to Lydia, our niece. She is the oldest girl in a family of 12 children, was home schooled, and spent much of her time caring for and helping her younger siblings with school, so she was not able to obtain her grade 12 diploma. She always wanted to be a teacher....she loves children and they love her. Lydia is kind, compassionate, gentle, sensitive, joyful, and optimistic.

After a brief hospitalization from Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder when she was 18, Lydia came to live with our family in July 2019. She worked very hard and was able to get her graduation diploma from Selkirk College in one year. She met the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with and was married in February 2022. In December 2022, Lydia miscarried and lost their first child. As you can imagine, this was a very difficult time. In July of 2023, her husband left her, and to date has had no contact with her. Lydia did not have the luxury to spend time mourning or wallowing in self-pity. She quickly found the first job that would pay her bills. All of this added to her trauma, and she was faced with the question, “What now?” After a few months of working hard to stay afloat, she decided it was time to fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher.

Lydia enrolled and was accepted into the teaching program at Briercrest Bible College in Saskatchewan and will be there for three out of the four years it will take to become a teacher. She starts school in January 2024. As we all know, college is very expensive. She had little time to prepare, so her only option was student loans, which won’t fully cover her tuition and living expenses on campus. The cost per year is $20,000. ($10,000 per semester). Multiply that by 4 ☹

We would love to give this young woman a hand up and fund raise enough money to cover her first year. With so many good causes to invest in, thank you for considering helping this bright light become a teacher so she can use her gifts and education to help and teach children. If you cannot help financially at this time, Lydia would so appreciate your prayers. Thank you!
