Two years ago, my sister and her husband opened their hearts and home to a beautiful little girl through adoption. After a full legal process, a judge terminated the rights of the biological parents and granted them custody. The adoption was finalized, the case was closed, and they began building a stable, loving life as a family.

Now, through no fault of their own, they are facing an unexpected and heartbreaking legal battle.

Someone who had the opportunity to come forward during the adoption process—yet chose not to—is now challenging the adoption. Despite the legal finalization and the time that has passed, the court is allowing this challenge to move forward.
