Built in 1919, the Purple House stands as a beacon of hope and service in the heart of the community. Originally purchased in the early 1980s by the beloved Otha Lee Walters—affectionately known as *Big O*—this home became a place of warmth, generosity, and outreach. Before his passing on September 11, 2016, Big O entrusted the house to his nephew, Kevin Walters Sr., who honored its legacy by painting it its iconic purple, symbolizing unity, creativity, and resilience.

From the beginning, the Purple House has been dedicated to uplifting those in need, and today, that mission continues under Kevin’s leadership. The Purple House will soon host the *Earth & Soul Vendor’s Market*—a weekly gathering celebrating local musicians, artists, and vendors while fostering connection and empowerment. Alongside vibrant cultural offerings, the Purple House will welcome speakers, workshops, and seminars on critical topics, from Mental Health & Wellness to Politics & Justice, ensuring our community stays informed, inspired, and supported.
