Gathered round the Thanksgiving dinner table with friends and family, Danny and Allesha learned of a very pregnant homeless woman sleeping in a shed, with frost bitten fingers, scared and alone. They fell to their knees in prayer and God spoke clearly to them that the baby was meant to be their child. The next day started a whirlwind rescue mission to get the woman safe, warm and receiving medical attention.
More prayers and conversations. Everyone agreed. The baby would be a Looney. It was best for all, and the woman especially was grateful for a chance to give the baby a safe loving home and focus on her recovery.
Next steps were paperwork, legal counsel, attorney meetings and lots of costs. Adoption is expensive, but it is important to do everything correctly. Attorney fees for the Looneys, attorney fees for the woman, paperwork processing fees, home studies, and more... it adds up quickly! How were they going to cover these costs?
But one week later, at 10:43pm on December 1st, nothing else mattered. The Looney family welcomed their daughter, Chloe Wilde into the world. Beautiful, healthy, perfect in every way. They fell instantly in love with this precious gift. God had chosen them, blessed them with this child, entrusted her to their care. He would make a way for everything else.
We are that way.
Danny and Allesha have been so faithful and obedient to this call. Their family and their hearts have grown immeasurably since bringing sweet Chloe home, but their bank accounts have not.
The total cost of this adoption is upwards of $10,000!
We can’t all bring a child into our home this Christmas, but we can all help support this child and this family. This family that gives so much of themselves to so many.
