Volunteering in Arusha
Donation protected
Hi everyone. My name is Derbhla Doyle and myself, Oonagh Doyle and Rebecca Crean are heading to Arusha in Tanzania on 15th of September to volunteer in a local school.
We have decided to create a Go Fund Me page to help us raise money before we head out to Arusha in the hope of using any donations raised to buy much needed supplies and materials for the school and children in Arusha. While there, we will be teaching children English, Maths, carrying out other extracurricular activities and helping out with the development of classrooms and the school.
The schools in Arusha are not government funded, so the running and upkeeping of the schools rely heavily on the generosity and donations of others. Schools in Arusha are underfunded but also under-resourced. That is why we hope to use any donations that we receive to help with the improvement of the children's school experience, whether that be buying new classroom stationary, classroom supplies, sports equipment, playground equipment etc. Facilities in the school are also in demand - for example more toilets and bathrooms.
The children in this school come from families in need. Most parents or legal guardians of the children cannot afford to pay any fees to the facility and thus an international sponsorship program help to ensures that the children receive appropriate care, education, meals and health care despite their difficult backgrounds.
We hope to use all the money donated to make small improvements in the lives of these children.
We have also set up an Instagram page to keep everyone updated with our work and progress while in Arusha - @volunteeringinarusha.
Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity!! It is greatly appreciated.
Derbhla, Oonagh & Rebecca.
