Hi, my name is Deon Cummings and I’m fundraising for my community in Westmoreland. We recently lost our home in hurricane Melisa that affected Jamaica. In just a few hours, everything we worked so hard for was gone. The wind and flooding were so strong that we had to leave with only a few belongings and the clothes on our backs.

Our home is now unlivable. Walls collapsed, the roof is gone, and our furniture, clothing, and personal items were destroyed. We are grateful to be safe, but it is incredibly hard to look at the place that once held our memories and realize we have nothing left to return to.

We are currently staying wherever we can while we try to figure out our next steps. We are doing our best to stay strong and support one another, but starting over from nothing is overwhelming.

We are asking for help to afford temporary housing, basic necessities, and to begin rebuilding what we lost. Any support you can offer — whether it is a donation or simply sharing this fundraiser — means the world to us.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read our story, and for any kindness you are able to give during this difficult time.
