Calling all football fans. We are Walking Football in Cyprus; a group of walking football clubs from across Cyprus who have come together to form a squad of Cypriot and expatriate senior men. Building on the incredible success of representing Cyprus and taking part in the World Nations Cup in Torrevieja, Spain last October, we now aim to repeat this endeavour by returning to Spain in November for the European Nations Cup. All the nations of Europe have expressed an interest in taking part and Cyprus wants to be included.

Our intention is to take part in what is likely to be the most contested age group; the men’s over 50’s. Our squad of 12 hopefuls will pit their skills against the best walking football teams across Europe.

As a team of 50+ years old players, we may no longer be able to play the regular game, however through walking football we’ve continued playing the game we love, albeit at a slower pace, and demonstrating that there are opportunities for senior people to continue enjoying life to the full.

Walking Football in Cyprus has a wider intent in supporting physical activity for senior men and women in the local communities, and getting this team to Spain will help highlight the sport and spread it to further reaches of the island of Cyprus.

Our senior squad comprises a mix of working men and retirees. The cost of entering the competition, and getting everyone to Spain is estimated at €15,000. You can read more about the competition at https://spainwalkingfootball.com/ and see more about walking football in Cyprus at wfic.com.cy.

We are appealing for any donations to help make this event happen. All funds received will go toward travel, accommodation, competition fees, and kit. In the event that we do not travel to Spain, all funds will be returned.
