My mum was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic cancer and is currently undergoing chemo to try and fight it back as much as possible. I cannot explain how strong she is being through such aggressive treatment. I always knew she was determined, strong and fearless, but this is next level.

Many of you have probably had experience of someone close to you going through Chemotherapy.. It is more than brutal. I still can’t understand in 2025 why fighting back or curing the disease requires such an attack on the body, but I suppose the treatment has to be comparable to the aggression of the cancer.

I have felt so unbelievably useless whilst my mum is going through this, and living 200 miles away makes it even harder. There are only so many times you can ask a person going through this if they are ok before it just feels an utterly empty question. I wanted to therefore do something meaningful and support the early detection research. I will be cycling 300km througout the month of July, finishing with a single 75k bike ride first weekend of August with my Dad along the Tarka Trail from Woolacombe to Okehampton

Pancreatic cancer is one of the stealthiest types of cancer, staying pretty invisible and symptom free until it’s too late. Therefore early detecion research is critical.
