Hi, my name’s Isaac, and I am hoping to raise at least £250 to help fund a volunteer visit to Eshowe, South Africa (26th May- 13th June 26) as part of the Turing Scheme, a government-led programme introduced and assisted by schools/ sixth forms that I have been selected for.
The trip will be focused on going to primary schools in deprived areas and orphanages and basically teaching and playing interactive physical activities with the children along with making art, and then visiting secondary schools and teaching children on how to pass the skills learnt and teach the primary school children.
Although most of the costs of taking part in the trip are covered by the Turing Scheme itself, participants have to raise at least £250 each to help with the cost of taking much-needed materials (sports and art equipment and materials) with us to leave with the children we work with in South Africa.
To raise this money I will be cycling 175km (108 miles) in one day from Newcastle Upon Tyne to York, and I would be very grateful if you would consider sponsoring me!

Here's some more about the Turing Scheme:
The Turing Scheme is the UK government’s global programme to study and work abroad. The scheme provides funding for international opportunities in education and training across the world.
Supporting the government’s Global Britain objectives, the Turing Scheme unlocks the opportunity for UK higher education institutions to offer life-changing experiences across the world for their students.
To be considered for the scheme, I had to write a 1000 word personal statement outlining why I wanted to take part, what I could offer, and why it would be useful for me. From over 200 applications I was one of 12 students selected from Newcastle Sixth Form College and Newcastle College.

I am aiming to ride the route in early May 2026. Once completed, you'll be able to view the ride and photos on Strava here.
Thanks for reading this and I hope you'll consider sponsoring me!
