Riding with Purpose - Cycling 300 Miles for Hope and Heroes & to help the American Cancer Society fight for a world without cancer.

This August, I've committed to cycling 300 miles (or more!) in support of the American Cancer Society — a cause that's both personal and powerful.

Cancer has touched my family deeply, and while their journeys have ended, their memories fuel my resolve. But this ride isn't just about honoring the past — it's about celebrating those who are still here, still fighting, and still shining bright. As I return to one of my lifelong passions — cycling — I'm riding not just for the past, but for the present and future.

I'm riding for two people who continue to inspire me with their resilience and light daily:

1. JJ is currently in the fight of his life, battling Glioblastoma (GBM) — a relentless and aggressive brain cancer. I met Jay during our grueling 18-month graduate program, and through long days, hard work, and deep conversations, I came to know someone who radiates warmth, humor, and an unshakable will. Even now, in treatment, he continues to be a source of light and strength to those around him.

2. JH my neighbor who has been so kind to us since we moved in next door. He is a fellow cycling enthusiast, though his love is mainly for the trails while I stick to the roads. He's been in remission from Myeloma for a few years, and his energy, optimism, and sheer joy for life are absolutely contagious. He reminds me what survivorship can look like — bold, brave, and beautiful.

Since I started riding again, the thought of dedicating my rides to them has stuck with me, and I'm so glad I can now tie it to something that has even greater meaning than building skills. They don't know I'm dedicating this ride to them, but I hope this effort shows just how much their strength and spirit mean — not only to me, but to everyone lucky enough to know them.
