Hi, my name is Cate Heyming. I am a boy scout in troop 7272, which is an all girls troop. Currently, I am trying to complete my eagle project. For my eagle project, I will be helping the Illumination Foundation. The Illumination Foundation is an organization that helps less fortunate people get back on their feet. Their goal is to disrupt the cycle of homelessness. All of the money that is donated to the Illumination Foundation is used to provide housing or services to the residents. One of their houses, the Gilbert house, is in need of a better backyard. My goal for this project is to provide a safer and more comfortable place where the people living in the home can thrive. I will be helping by clearing any debris that was left in the area, refurbishing their yard gate, planting plants along the perimeter, making a vegetable garden, laying an irrigation system to water the plants, and painting a mural. By creating a safer environment and more cheerful surroundings, I hope to create a more comfortable living space for the homeless.
