My sister, Raquel, is one of the strongest people I know. She's a wonderful mother to two beautiful children, and partner to Jemima. At just 29 years old, she is facing the fight of her life. She was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer.
While this news is devastating, we are incredibly grateful that it was detected early. Raquel is now focused on an intense treatment and recovery plan that will give her the best chance to beat this. As her brother, all I want to do is clear the path for her so she can focus solely on recovery.
Cancer treatment is physically and emotionally exhausting. In today’s high cost environment, we want to remove the crushing burden of financial stress entirely so Raquel can dedicate every ounce of her strength to healing and spending precious time with her loved ones.
The goal of this fundraiser is simple: to keep the lights on and the pantry full.
The funds raised will go directly to supporting Raquel and her family with essential daily living expenses, including mortgage, groceries, basic utilities, childcare and transportation. Ensuring stable housing, every day needs and managing logistics throughout her treatment.
By removing the financial worries, every donation is a contribution to Raquel's peace of mind, allowing her and her family to put 100% of her energy into healing and fighting this battle.
The Grand Shave-Off: Show Your Support!
To show Raquel how much we stand with her and to help hit our fundraising goal, four of the most important men in her life are showing their solidarity in the most visible way possible: shaving their heads!
Her partner Jemima, her brothers, Jaycob and Tyler, and her father, Mick, are shaving their heads!
Date: Saturday, November 29th, 11am-2pm
Location: Honey Bones Gallery, 46 Trafford Street, Brunswick
Come along dressed in pink to cheer them on, show your support for Raquel, and donate in person!
