This Christmas, I wanted to do something truly meaningful — something that could bring comfort, confidence, and hope to a child going through an incredibly difficult time. That’s why I’ve decided to donate 36cm of my hair to The Little Princess Trust, a charity that creates real-hair wigs for children and young people who are undergoing cancer treatment or living with medical hair loss.

For many children, losing their hair can be one of the most distressing parts of their illness. It can affect their confidence, their sense of identity, and how they feel about themselves when so much already feels out of their control. A real-hair wig may seem like a small thing, but to a child, it can help them feel more like themselves again — offering comfort, dignity, and a sense of normality during a very challenging journey.

The Little Princess Trust provides these wigs completely free of charge to families. However, each wig still comes with a cost to create:

• £150 – covers a professional wig fitting

• £550 – the cost of making a real-hair wig

• £700 – the total cost to provide one wig to a child

I’ve done one half of this journey by donating my hair. The other half is raising the funds needed to turn that hair into a wig — and ultimately into a boost of confidence and a smile for a child who truly deserves it.
