Cutting my hair off in support of family and cancer

Hi, as some of you know me and to those who don’t, my name is Jack Hardy and I play for Moldgreen rugby club. Sadly, at the end of last year my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer and since has had to undergo multiple surgeries to remove as much of the disease as possible. She is currently having treatment such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy to eliminate the remaining cancer and due to this she has lost her hair.

My Grandmother has always been there to take care of us and help us where needed, she has always been a hard worker and that is why I decided it was my turn to give back to her in her time of need, which she truly deserves. Those close to me will know that I take pride in my own hair and have grown it out over many years. However, I recently came to the decision that I would like to cut my hair and donate it to the Little Princess Trust charity and stand in solidarity with my grandma. By doing this I intend to raise money in support of my grandmother, so that she is also able to purchase a wig whilst going through treatment.

I plan to do this in the upcoming summer holidays and a date for this will be released in the near future. The cost of the wig which will be purchased is £700 and any remaining money will be donated alongside the hair to the Little Princess Trust charity. Updates will be provided of the haircut, purchasing of the wig and the remaining money alongside the hair, will be sent to the Little Princess Trust charity.

I am sure this is a cause which many can empathise with, as 1 in 2 of us will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in our lifetime and a supportive community is gravely needed.
