Custer Family Bills and Funeral Arrangements

Hello. Our names are Dylan and Rachel Custer. On November 26th I gave birth to our first beautiful baby boy Michael Silas. Although he appeared very healthy, soon after birth he was diagnosed with necrotizing enterocolitis. Silas was airlifted to LeBonheur Children’s hospital in Memphis and underwent emergency surgery to remove dead tissue from his intestines and colon. The surgery was extremely extensive. Shortly after surgery, his sodium and electrolytes dropped to critically low levels. As a result of this, and medication administered to correct the issues, Silas suffered brain swelling and damage that is just too much for his little body. We continue to pray, but it has come time to say goodbye to our little boy.

We have been staying 3 hours from home in Memphis to be by his side and money is tight. I am still on maternity leave through the beginning of the year. Soon we will have to plan how we want to honor Silas’s life. All this is so unexpected and we were not prepared. Any donations will go to keeping our family afloat and bringing our beloved son home.
