FREE Community App For Tackling Plastic Waste

OUR GOAL: To knock Ireland off that embarrassing EU topspot as the biggest producer of single-use plastic packaging waste per household at 171 kgs each per annum - That's equivalent to 3,000 empty 2ltr single-use plastic drinks bottles for every household in Ireland.

This compares to France at 153kgs per household annually, or the sustainability conscious Swedish at just 55kgs.

Each Irish household would need to reduce from 171kgs per annum currently to 51kgs per annum by 2030 to meet national sustainability targets and prevent the ecological catastrophe threatened if we don't curb our over-reliance on the convenience of single-use plastic packaging.

The Good News... CUSP has developed a FREE app that does all the calculations and conversions-to-kilograms for you! Free to download today (just Ireland initially!) - Search 'CUSP: Single-Use Plastic Calc' iOS and android.

CUSP (Cease Using Single-use Plastic) is asking Irish families to download our free app and identify just 1kg monthly reductions; repeat that same 1kg reduction each month for 12 months (12kgs annually)... then identify a further 1kg reduction for a further 12 months, and so on... each year through 2030.  1kg of plastic packaging is equivalent to approximately 18 empty 2ltr single-use plastic drinks bottles for example. 

12kgs multiplied by 10 years = 120kgs. Coincidentally too 171kgs - 120kgs = 51kgs    Voila.... job done!

We've self-funded building our app but now need your support to drive participation across the island of Ireland - your fivers and tenners will really help!

CUSP is looking to raise €25k towards version 2 of the app (currently in development) and drive awareness via both digital and traditional media channels.

The CUSP initiative will only work through nationwide participation!
