CUS Philippines Fund - Conor Dempsey's Fundraiser

Hi,

This year I will be travelling to Davao in the Philippines as part of the CUS Philippines Fund to volunteer with the Badjao Community. As part of this, I am raising funds of which 100% will go straight to the projects that the Philippines Fund works with in Davao. I have previously been on two volunteering trips as a past pupil of the school and they have had a lasting impact on me.

Since 2007, the CUS Philippines Fund has worked with many marginalised communities in Davao to try and improve the lives of those in the communities. Since 2011, CUS has been working very closely with the people of the Badjao tribe in Davao. This tribe is on the fringes of society and is extremely under-served from an educational standpoint. CUS has sent groups of students and past-pupil students from CUS in Dublin to these schools on volunteering trips where they have raised funds to help those in the communities as well as teaching the children of the tribe for 3 weeks each summer. 

Unfortunately, there was a fire which has recently devastated the community, destroying much of the village. The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise money to contribute to the rebuilding of the village and the school which we have worked in over the last 8 years, in addition to lending a hand in the rebuilding of the community in any way we can.
