Curbside Serenade 2024 Crowdfunding Project
Donation protected
It's been 4 years of Curbside Serenade bringing music to the Portland community and we're so excited for how much we've grown! However with that growth comes growing pains... To keep providing live music we’re gonna need a whole lot of permits. And that means fees. We also need funds to generate a decent pay for the performers and producers of the shows. That's where you come in.
THE DREAM...
Over the years, we’ve heard from so many people how much they look forward to our park shows, that I think it’s clear for everybody now, that we’re only there to give Portland the kind of show we’d like to come across ourselves.
Outdoor, donation based, all ages, weird and independent.
At this point we feel like we’re connected with enough people to start a crowdfunding campaign that will enable us to provide a better show for the audience, the neighbors and the performers in 2024.
Winter is when we prepare for the coming season. Raising this money now will allow us to make the necessary commitments with the city to ensure the survival of the park shows and the expansion of Curbside Serenade to different corners of the city of Portland.
Since the beginning, a Curbside Serenade was something you gift your neighbors with.
You can do that by contributing now.
OUR STORY...
In the year 2020 whatever you needed; you got it delivered. And people needed live music!
A week after the shutdown Brazilian Troubadour Johnny Franco was approached about serenading someone under their balcony. The idea was socially distant and especially innovative! It was a gift from one neighbor to another and they felt like they were a part of something meaningful that day. From that day the idea of Curbside Serenade was born! A platform for people to have live music delivered.
As time went on we welcomed other Serenaders to join the platform and deliver private serenades all over Portland. These private serenades included anything from surprise engagements, anniversaries, art exhibitions, and even a dog's birthday party.
By the end of 2020, Johnny and his brother Dom had delivered over 200 private serenades! But one invitation to serenade a group of friends in Laurelhurst Park sparked an idea for a free public weekly show.
Every Thursday from April to September, we create a make shift stage and bring a live show of music and entertainment to Laurelhurst Park. Providing the community with an experience that has become a staple within the City Of Portland. Over the last several years the show has grown from a few friends in the neighborhood stopping by, to people planning their week around the event. Even touring artists make time to stop in Portland to play on the makeshift milk crate stage.
These public curbside serenades became the core of our operation. We expanded adding a Serenade Series on Mt Tabor showcasing Singer/Songwriters every Monday at sunset. Wanting to stay active in the community we partnered PBOT and Music Portland to be a curator for their vibrant spaces program. We host weekly events at several pedestrian plazas showcasing a wide range of Portland’s professional performers.
