Cuddle Cot for Fort Belvoir
Donation protected
Almost 4 years ago with the help of all the wonderful friends, family, and community we raised over 3000 dollars to buy and place a cuddle cot at our local hospital...Sentara Regional hospital, the hospital that Asher, our son who passed away, was born at.
I have been working for the nonprofit, Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, as a photographer now for about 2.5 years. I have photographed over 30 families with their critically ill babies, stillborn babies, and babies in the NICU coming off life support. I have witnessed first hand how precious cuddle cots are for families that deliver at hospitals that have them available are. Their baby stays in great condition for much longer than those who are not placed in a cuddle cot. Parents are able to stay with, hold, and love on their babies as long as they wish.
Today was my 4th time photographing at Fort Belvoir Hospital in Virginia. They do not have a cuddle cot. Today I witnessed the heartbreak as first time parents held and longed for their son which passed. Since there was no cuddle cot he was deteriorating very quickly and the mom was afraid to hold her son as he was too fragile to move and no mom should have to fell that way when saying goodbye.
Of all hospitals, military hospitals serving those who serve our nation deserve to have this available for the grieving parents. Talking with the wonderful nursing staff today they would truly be grateful to have a cuddle cot to offer for their bereaved parents. With your help, I'd like to donate them a cuddle cot as hospitals, especially military, will not provide this with usual funds.
Please help me to place a cuddle cot for our military families. I will most likely be going through the non-profit "SOBBS" again who help to order and plan for cuddle cot placements and in doing so it will be in our son Asher Olsen's Memory.
Again, I thank you for your support and consideration of donating. I know the staff and families at Fort Belvoir will be very appreciative.
