Cuddle Cot donation in memory of Jameson Riggs

Our Story:

In July 2020 Elijah and I found out we were expecting. Ashlyn was beyond excited to be a big sister. After a healthy pregnancy, on March 24, 2020, I went into labor at 39 weeks and 1 day. Once I arrived at the hospital, they informed me that they could not find a heartbeat, and that my son had passed away. I was devastated. After 7 long hours, our son Jameson Elijah Riggs was born still. We were devastated. Unfortunately, Jameson was born with a nuchal cord, which means that his umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck 5 times. Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska offered us a Cuddle Cot. Thanks to the Cuddle Cot, we were able to spend more time with our son. I cannot express the importance and the impact it made to have that extra time. Especially, due to COVID, many friends and family members were not allowed to meet our handsome boy.

Cuddle Cot is a special cooling bed for an infant, that allows them to stay in the hospital room for up to 48 hours after they pass. This provides parents and family precious time with their baby.

With Jameson’s upcoming birthday, I would like to honor him by donating a Cuddle Cot to a hospital in need. I have been in touch with a few maternity units, and I am looking into who would benefit the most from this donation. The cost of the Cuddle Cot is $2,854.00. With any additional donations, I would like to contribute books for grieving siblings.

Donate in honor of the baby you have lost. Donate in honor of your mother, sister, or friends who have lost a baby. You may not be personally affected by pregnancy loss, but more than likely you know someone who has lost a baby. Unfortunately, 1 in 4 women will have a miscarriage, while 1 in 100 will experience a stillbirth. As a mother who has lost a child, I know how much this can mean for someone to have access to a Cuddle Cot. The moments spent with any baby are precious, but the short time spent with a stillborn is priceless, so please help us extend those moments to the families in our community.
