I can't believe I'm in this position where I have to take legal action to protect my kids. I have had custody of my children their entire lives and all of a sudden, after almost 13 years, I am having to use everything within my power to protect my children from a harmful and unstable environment. I’ve been raising them on my own, we have overcome so much and I have always provided for them and while I never thought I’d need to ask for help, our safety and well-being depend on it right now.

For so many years my children and I have had to navigate a heartbreaking situation involving emotional abuse, instability, and mental health concerns from their father. Despite years of inconsistency, absence, and past suicidal threats, he recently returned living very close to use and began demanding visitation based on an outdated agreement I was pressured and manipulated into signing without legal representation.

Since then, things have escalated:

My children have expressed fear and distress about visitation.

Their father has been stalking our home, texting erratically, and showing clear signs of instability.

He has diagnosed mental health conditions but refuses treatment.

My 12-year-old has even told school therapists about his father’s “violence.”

The police have been called twice now. And we want this to end.

I’m now working urgently with an attorney to modify our custody order to include:

✅ A psychological evaluation for the father

✅ Protection of medical decision-making

✅ Court-approved communication only

✅ A restraining order for our safety

But family court isn’t free — and safety shouldn’t be limited by financial barriers.
