Dear Family, Friends, and Followers,
I have always wanted to volunteer abroad and I am VERY excited to announce that I have been given the opportunity to participate in my very first medical volunteering trip abroad. In April 2019, I will travel to Cusco, Peru to volunteer on a Medical Project with International Volunteer Headquarters (IVHQ).
My Volunteering Role
In Cusco, clinics and hospitals for low-income families tend to be under-funded and under-staffed. As a result, I will play an important role in assisting local nurses and doctors, dentists and specialists while also learning about the healthcare system in Cusco. I will spend Monday-Friday volunteering, directly participating in patient care by talking with patients, taking their weight, height, blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature, administering vaccinations, making beds, cleaning, preparing materials, , and sterilizing equipment.
How YOU can Help
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me and would give me the chance to give back to those who are in need. I have been lucky enough to be granted the time off of work from my company. However, in order to participate in this project, I need to raise funds in order to get to Peru and cover the costs of volunteering. Therefore, I am reaching out to my family, friends, and followers to please help me fundraise and make it to Peru this April!
