CROWN (Christ Reaching Out Witness Now) is a new organization created in 2019 to continue a 50-year legacy of organized Christian sports ministry in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our original basketball activities involved over 1,000 participants (youth, young adults, and families) during non-pandemic times. Our emphasis is on winning souls, not just winning games, and includes philosophies of “gracious play”, sportspersonship, and integrity. Now we are widening our ministry to more communities with programming in other sports such as volleyball and golf, and beyond athletics such as in college-readiness and education, financial literacy, and career, personal, and spiritual development. We are growing our in-person and virtual presence to carry out our mission, guided by 1 Corinthians 9:24-25, to strive for the "eternal prize" and share God's love and the Gospel message through our outreach.
CROWN is a new, officially-recognized non-profit organization, but we are still in the process of getting our tax-exemption status. Thus, we do not yet have 501(c)(3) designation for charity tax credit for your giving. Our Board of Directors, consisting of leaders from a collaboration of 12 local Christian churches, is all volunteers. Our initial goal of $10K will fund this year's administrative costs, which include completing our legal and tax-exemption processes. Our usual streams of income are severely reduced, and we need your support to ensure our organization and programs can continue.
