Croí Mháire Foodbank

Hi, my name is Sinéad Kirby. Last year I lost my mam, Mary, after a lengthy and difficult struggle with various cancers and illnesses. I decided to set up a foodbank for two reasons. The first, is in her memory. She was very much about helping others and I know she would love to be a part of this. The second reason, was to help address the current cost of living crisis. We are now entering the Winter months and many will struggle to meet the rising cost of almost everything. No one should have to choose between heating their home and putting food on the table.

We are based out of St Ciarán's Church in Hartstown, Dublin 15. In order to get the foodbank off the ground, we need funding! We are a team of 13 volunteers. We have been very generously given the use of a room in St Ciarán's Church by Fr. Joe but we need to install sufficient shelving and storage. We also need to build up a supply of food to keep us going for as long as possible. As there is currently no other foodbank in Dublin 15, we feel that the numbers of people in need who will attend the foodbank, could be quite large.
