Hi, I'm Lise. While I have a love for all animals, rats hold a special place in my heart. I don’t run a “rat rescue” in the typical sense of the word, but I do provide permanent sanctuary to rats that have been neglected, abused, abandoned, surrendered, or rescued from life threatening situations. I currently have 66 rats under my care; as well as 3 dogs and a cat.

The past few months have been financially overwhelming. I’m now struggling to provide everyone with the veterinary care they need and deserve. They could really use your help.

Backstory: Two years ago I started having health problems. I was eventually diagnosed with several debilitating illnesses. It progressed until I had no choice but to close my small business - Star Brux. Unable to create the art that I relied upon to pay for animal care, I lost 80% of my funding. It’s been hard, but I managed - until now. It’s literally been one thing after another, and things just keep piling up.

Asking for help is the last thing I wanted to do, but a friend helped me realize that it’s not about me, it’s about the animals in my care. Their well-being matters more than anything. So, as difficult as it is for me to ask for help, here I am.

Willow is Cricket’s sister. Her tumor is still quite small, but since they can grow insanely fast, I would prefer to get it removed as soon as possible. Not only would it be easier on her, large tumors are often more difficult to remove, with increased risk of complications.

DORIE

Dorie came to me along with 2 boys, who had been living together in a small, plastic, rolling cart drawer. Dorie has had respiratory issues off and on since I got her last year. Her last relapse has resulted in having to stay on antibiotics and prednisone long term. She’s still constantly congested, but without prednisone she struggles to breathe. Ex-ray is needed to check her lungs for masses/fluid, and to rule out heart issues.

WRYNN

COLBIE
•Ongoing teeth trims - $115 per trim ✔️4x

Colbie came to me with brittle white teeth. After a short-distance fall, while wrestling with her sisters, she knocked out her upper left and lower right incisors; causing the remaining incisors to overgrow quickly.

Her missing incisors have finally grown back in; however, she now has a slight malocclusion. At this point, we are still unsure whether her incisors will eventually straighten themselves out, or if she’ll require trims for the rest of her life.

⚠️ Update: Colbie’s jaw has straightened out significantly and now only requires a tooth trim approx. every 6 weeks!

DREN
•Neuter - $150 (if funds allow)

This little guy came to me with serious aggression issues. All attempts to integrate him with other boys have failed. Sadly, he’s been living alone for the past few months, while I work with him. Rats are very social animals and it breaks my heart that he’s all alone.

We’ve ruled out medical issues, and believe his aggression is testosterone driven, rather than behavioral. Any remaining funds will go towards his neuter. My hope is that it allows him to one day have a friend of his own.
