Please help me support my close friend Allie who needs urgent support with living costs, moving house and accessing mental health/PTSD support with a therapist who she trusts while we wait for her PIP (personal independence payment) application paperwork to come through.
If you prefer to give directly not through a fundraiser please message @ed_burrell or @arwswh on instagram and I'll send you her paypal. You can also buy her music at https://gerst.bandcamp.com/ ... bandcamp friday is the first friday of every month (all proceeds go to the artist on this day) the next one is October 2nd.
Allie is an active member in her communities including t-climbing, leatherdyke-ing, and noise music-ing. Since dropping out of university due to an assault that happened on campus, unmet complex mental health and neurodivergence support needs, she has not been able to access universal credit or PIP due to not being on any housing contract. She has also struggled getting a job due to general job market awfulness and due to her mental health. She has also had to stop therapy since leaving university because of the expense. Because of this her mental health has continued to decline so we are urgently trying to get her back into therapy asap.
Her partner has been able to support her through the last few months but this has been a struggle and is becoming unsustainable, especially as they now have to move house in the next month. Short term financial aid will give my friend some independence while she and her partner find a place to live and get her on her feet financially through UC and PIP and continuing the job search.
Please also send through (@ed_burrell or @arwswhon insta) part time trans friendly job opportunities. She has barista and bar experience and is a talented musician including guitar, bass and noise (she's very good with machines and synthesisers that I don't understand)!
3 months worth of therapy would cost around 1.5k (PTSD therapists tend to be around £90-£120 per hour). 3 months is a good course of therapy but obviously the longer she can have stable therapy access the better.
I've put around 2k for living costs to cover this month's rent and bills and living costs as well as the deposit on a new place and moving costs. Obviously in London living and moving is extremely expensive this is more of a ball park number than anything because costs always seem to... arise....
Trans people, especially women, are financially, professionally and socially penalised and often repeatedly retraumatised, barely giving us a break to meet an ever-increasingly difficult to reach basic standard of living. Please help me set my friend up so she can get some stability to get out of survival mode and give her an opportunity to thrive on her own terms.
