Creighton’s Summer Health Program: Support My Work in the DR

Donation protected
Hi everyone! My name is Hannah, and I’m a first-year medical student at Creighton University.

As some of you may know, I went to the Texas-Mexico border in January of 2020 through the Arrupe International Immersion Program (pictured above) to learn about immigration issues. This was the most meaningful experience I had while at Boston College and was what drove me to my interest in global health and its intersection with racial and socioeconomic disparities.

I’m thrilled to share that I now have the opportunity to continue pursuing this passion through Creighton’s Misión ILAC (Institute for Latin American Concern) Program. This summer, I will go on a month-long trip to the Dominican Republic, where we’ll live with host families and work in rural clinics to help provide basic healthcare services to the community.

Creighton’s long-standing partnerships with the communities we serve are central to this program. Built on trust, collaboration, and a deep understanding of local needs, these partnerships ensure that our work supports the community’s long-term goals. By working alongside local leaders and organizations, we aim to make a sustainable impact by addressing immediate healthcare needs while empowering the community to sustain progress over time. As students, we gain hands-on experience while contributing to a shared mission of fostering health and well-being in a way that respects and uplifts those we serve.

I’m reaching out to ask for your support to make this opportunity possible. My fundraising goal will help cover my international travel expenses and room and board, as well as contribute directly to the local community by funding the clinic and providing medical and dental supplies. Any contribution—big or small—would mean so much to me. I know there are many worthwhile causes that need support, so I truly appreciate you considering helping me reach this goal.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story! If you’re able to donate, I would be incredibly grateful for your help. If not, sharing this post with others who might be interested in supporting would also mean the world to me.
