Supporting rural communities in Trelawny & St. Elizabeth, Jamaica
Martha Brae, Granville to Bunkers Hill and Elderslie & Jointwood
When Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica, it left behind more than just physical destruction - it disrupted lives, livelihoods, and hope across several small, close-knit communities.
Creative Force Toronto, a grassroots initiative rooted in empowerment and healing, is launching the Hurricane Melissa Relief Fund to support families most affected in Trelawny and St. Elizabeth - particularly in the rural and hillside areas that are often the last to receive help.
Why This Fund Matters
While major towns begin to receive assistance, many families in Martha Brae, Granville, Bunkers Hill, Elderslie, Jointwood and surrounding areas continue to wait.
These are farming and working-class communities filled with elders, children, and small business owners whose homes and livelihoods have been deeply impacted.
Your support will help us provide:
-Building & repair supplies: zinc, lumber, nails, tarpaulin, tools
-Essential food packages: rice, flour, tinned goods, cooking oil, water
-Medical & hygiene kits: first aid, soaps, sanitary pads, wipes
-School & stationary supplies: books, backpacks, pencils, uniforms
-Basic tools & essentials for families rebuilding
**Our focus is to make sure relief reaches the heart of the communities, not just the main roads**
Community-Led Coordination
We are working to coordinate efforts with local community leadership, to help identify and reach the most affected families.
The community leadership will provide valuable insight into community needs and ensure transparent distribution of aid.
Together, we’re building a trusted, community-led relief network guided by the people who know the ground realities best.
Phase 2: Targeting Underserved Communities
While official relief efforts are already underway in larger towns, smaller and more remote communities often have to wait longer for aid.
Creative Force’s fund is designed to fill this gap:
1) Delivering essential food, water, medical, and hygiene supplies to families in rural and hillside areas
2) Providing basic building materials and tools to help families repair their homes
3) Ensuring children receive school and stationary supplies
Phase 2 will take a bit more time to organize - including fundraising, sourcing supplies locally, and coordinating with trusted community leaders - but it’s designed for a meaningful and targeted impact where it’s needed most.
By focusing on these underserved communities, we ensure that no family is forgotten in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.
