Creating Comfort: Redesigning for Healing Moments
Spende geschützt
Hi, my name is Jacquie and I am a breast cancer survivor who spent many difficult moments in my surgeon's office, specifically in a room where patients are first given life-changing news. This room is where you hear the words "you have cancer" and discuss the steps ahead, such as treatment options and life altering decisions.
Unfortunately, this consultation room is far from soothing. The previous tenants of this office left holes in the walls and outdated, oversized and uncomfortable furniture. It is anything but comforting. The staff and head surgeon are not happy with the look of the room but are rightfully more concerned with the priority of saving lives. That is why I would like to step in to create a space that helps ease the emotional burden during these critical moments by transforming the room into a soothing, supportive environment. This isn't a space for treatments, but rather a space for reflection, processing, and receiving vital information.
My doctors and the staff have put a lot of trust in me and giving me the opportunity to redesign the conference room and turn it into a space that truly supports the emotional needs of breast cancer patients.
Your donations will help cover:
- patching and fresh paint on the walls
- New, comfortable seating to ensure patients feel physically supported
- Art and decor that inspire hope, strength, and healing.
- plants, flowers and natural elements to bring a sense of calm and renewal
I have created a couple of mood boards that I will present to the staff to get their insights, but this first is my favorite- just to give you a glimpse into what we can do together.
Tiers of Rewards:
Any donations are appreciated, but of course we would like to offer small tokens of appreciation for anyone that can give more.
$25 receives a thankyou letter or card signed by staff and patients.
$50 receives a butterfly bracelet
$100 receives their name on a plaque of gratitude that will be placed in the office.
