Creating A Domestic Violence Shelter For MEN

Donation protected
My name is Stevie J and my goal is to HELP MALE victims of domestic violence by providing the first male domestic violence shelter in Victoria!

I first became aware of this issue as a result of the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard court cases, where Johnny Depp was falsely accused by ex-wife Amber Heard, when in fact SHE was the abusive partner in the relationship. This led me down a path of discovery as I then met so many male victims from all walks of life.

All of the male domestic violence victims I spoke to shared similar stories of shame, fear and ridicule when they attempted to seek help. There is a stigma in society that men cannot be victims, that is not true, you just DON'T hear about it.

Join me on this journey to help human beings in need.

There are approximately 750,000 men SUFFERING in silence today!

It could be your son, father, brother or friend.

Contrary to common beliefs:

Up to 1 in 3 victims of sexual assault are male

At least 1 in 3 victims of family violence and abuse are male

The vast majority (94%) of perpetrators of intimate partner violence against males are female, reflecting the fact that the vast majority of intimate relationships are heterosexual (men in same-sex relationships are just as likely as straight men to experience IPV).

What We Need

This initial funding will be going directly to legal costs which include;

  • Registering a non-profit organization

  • Establishing a charter and board of directors

The Impact

The difference your contribution will MAKE:

  • Preventing homelessness

  • Reduce the prevalence of male mental health issues, reduction in the number of male suicides

  • Provide a genuinely safe place for male victims, free of the shame and ridicule many face today

Obstacles we may face on the way to achieving our goal.

Funding is the main challenge in order to establish the legal framework, once this is in place the shelter can become self sustaining through a variety of community projects and fundraisers.

Lack of public support. This is a risk due to the current social climate in which men are perceived as the perpetrator in almost all instances. To overcome this we must unite as supporters of humanity. Men and Women who support each other is the only way forward.
