Helen P. Deas Community Food Program

Tax deductible

I’m Chef Margaret Harriott, a Conway native, veteran advocate, and founder of the Go Get Your You Foundation. Our mission is to uplift veterans, families, and underserved communities through food access, education, and empowerment.
We are excited to announce the next chapter of our work: transforming 605 Broadway Street in Myrtle Beach into the permanent home of the Helen P. Deas Community Food Program (HPD-CFP). Named after my late aunt — who started a food pantry at her church and cared for countless children in our community — this program will carry on her legacy of service.
What this space will provide:
Food Distribution (3 days per week): Fresh produce, hot meals, and pantry access for veterans, families, and those at risk of hunger.
Veteran Outreach: Hands-on support for veterans — with a special focus on minority women, single parents, and those facing homelessness.
Educational Workshops: Cooking and herbal classes to promote wellness, skill-building, and community self-sufficiency.
Community Gathering Space: A safe hub for meetings, meals, and support.
We are proud to retain loyal employees who have stood by us through every chapter. One shining example is Veteran Annette Marshall, a dedicated team member who continued to work with me even after the closing of our former restaurant. Annette is also a recipient of services from the Foundation, and her story reflects exactly why this work matters.
With a contractor secured and renovations scheduled to begin September 30, we are ready to move forward. The owner has agreed to lease the building, with an option to buy, making this the permanent anchor for our community programs.
How your donation helps:
Renovations, including ADA-compliant bathrooms and kitchen upgrades.
Equipment and furnishings for food distribution and programming.
Launch costs for community workshops and outreach programs.
Staff support, including retention of veterans like Annette.
This isn’t just a building. It’s a promise to our community that the Helen P. Deas Community Food Program will remain a necessary priority — feeding families, supporting veterans, and honoring a legacy of love and service.
Every dollar brings us closer to opening our doors by November 2025. Please consider donating and sharing this campaign to help us make it a reality.
