There are veterans in our community right now who have served this country with honor—but are struggling in silence.

Some are facing homelessness.

Some are sleeping in cars.

Some are working, but still unable to secure stable housing.

And many are turned away from support simply because they don’t meet strict eligibility requirements.

I’ve met them. I’ve spoken with them. I’ve helped as many as I could with the resources I had.

But I knew we needed something more.

That’s why I created the CreateLife Veterans Outreach Center.

This isn’t just another program—it’s personal.

The center is located in what was once my grandmother’s home—a place built on love, care, and family. Today, that same space is being transformed into a safe haven for veterans and their families. A place where they can walk in and not be turned away.

A place where they can breathe.

Through the Go Get Your You Foundation, we are building a centralized hub that will provide:

Housing stabilization support

Assistance overcoming rental barriers

Access to food and essential supplies

Help with VA disability claims and benefits navigation

Small business support and life skills guidance

All at no cost.

We are also developing a Veterans Healing Farm, where veterans can find peace, reconnect with themselves, and begin to heal—mentally, emotionally, and physically.

And we’re not stopping there.

We are expanding our vision by developing a partner outreach center in Southern Los Angeles, with the goal of helping reduce veteran homelessness in one of the most impacted areas in the country.

But right now, we need your help.

Launching our CreateLife product lines, including signature food products, seasonings, and sauces—with proceeds directly supporting veteran programs.

CreateLife Chefware & Cookware Collection

Releasing a culturally inspired chefwear and cookware line, with a portion of every purchase reinvested into the outreach center.

Midnite Munchies Summer Tour

A traveling late-night food experience across Horry County and surrounding areas, combining food, community, and fundraising.

Community Events & Festivals

Hosting and participating in events such as Juneteenth celebrations, vendor markets, and local fundraisers to support outreach efforts.

Partnerships & Sponsorships

Collaborating with local businesses, organizations, and corporate partners to expand our impact and secure ongoing support.

Grants & Corporate Giving Platforms

Pursuing funding through grants and platforms like Benevity to sustain and scale our programs.

Community Needs Assessment

I am excited to share some wonderful news about the future of the Helen P. Deas Community Food Program (HPD-CFP). After months of planning and searching, we have secured a location at 605 Broadway Street in Myrtle Beach. This will serve as the permanent home for our nonprofit initiative and will allow us to expand our services to veterans, families, the elderly and those in need-which is a growing concern.

With the owner’s support and a contractor ready to begin renovations on September 30th, this space will soon be transformed into a community food hub that honors my late aunt Helen’s legacy of service. Three days a week, the building will host food distribution at the Broadway location as well as our partner sites, fresh produce giveaways, hot meals, and educational programs like cooking and herbal wellness classes. It is my desire to partner with local professional caterers and food vendors to offer hot meals during our events, to help stimulate the economy amongst our communities.

Equally important, we are proud to retain loyal employees who have stood with us through every season. One shining example is Navy Veteran Annette Marshall, who continued to work with me even after my restaurant closed. She is also a recipient of the Foundation’s services, and her story reflects exactly why this program is so vital.
