At Denehurst Nursing Home, every resident deserves comfort, dignity, and connection. We’re launching a fundraising campaign to create a dedicated dementia-friendly garden—a serene, secure outdoor space where residents can enjoy nature, fresh air, and precious moments with loved ones.
Why a dementia garden?
Living with dementia can be confusing and distressing, but access to a calm, sensory-rich garden has proven benefits. Thoughtful design features such as circular walking paths (to avoid dead-ends), raised planters for gardening, safe surfaces, shaded seating areas, and gentle water features help stimulate memory, ease anxiety, and promote joy. Most importantly, it’s a place for families to bond, reminisce, and simply be together.
What we’re aiming to build:
A fully enclosed, secure garden area tailored for dementia care
Sensory plants and flowers that spark memory and delight
Benches and picnic areas for visiting families and residents
Raised flower beds and herbs for therapeutic gardening
Wheelchair-friendly pathways and shaded resting zones
Quiet corners for reflection and privacy
Who this benefits:
All Denehurst residents, particularly those living with dementia, will have daily access to the garden. Our nursing staff will incorporate it into activities that support emotional well-being, physical stimulation, and meaningful engagement.
Our goal: £3,500
Every pound goes directly toward materials, landscaping, and maintenance to ensure this garden flourishes for years to come. Your generosity can help transform lives.
Whether you give £5 or £50, your support means the world. If you can't donate right now, sharing this campaign is just as powerful. Together, we can build more than a garden—we can build joy, healing, and community.
Let’s plant the seeds of hope today.
