Help fight food insecurity in Montgomery County!
The Career Readiness Education Academy (CREA) at Thomas Edison High School in Wheaton MD and Seneca Valley High School in Germantown MD is a career readiness education program for older English Language Learners (ELLs) in MCPS who are unlikely to meet all graduation requirements prior to turning 21. Students in CREA are provided with opportunities to learn English language skills, basic work skills and to earn industry certifications. Students who are eligible to participate in the GED Ready Pilot Program are also offered an opportunity to prepare for the GED in the CREA program.
The CREA students have been thoroughly impacted from COVID-19 and closures. Throughout quarantine we have been driving food to CREA students who are food insecure. Staring with only a few houses, our food pantry and now serves over 60 students & their families a week!
We provide the families with food, masks, baby clothes & supplies, gift cards and other donations. We have coordinated with local charities, churches, synagogues, donors, volunteers and public school resources to feed our students.
We are overjoyed with the support and amazing donations we have received so far! The need for food (& other) support for CREA students is continuing to grow.
Please support our cause and help feed our students!
