Craig County Field of Dreams

With no county funded Parks and Recreation, Craig County Recreation and Conservation Association, a 501c3 non-profit, is serving that purpose for our county while relying on volunteers and operating on donations, grants and in-kind services. Sports is the number one youth activity in this rural community, promoting healthy lifestyles, an alternative to at-risk behaviors, learning new skills, and the joy of being part of a team. The Field of Dreams (FOD) is a multi-purpose sports complex, and with assistance from the VA Dept. of Conservation and Recreation, the 18-acre property is in perpetuity for recreation. Over the last decade, the complex has completed all infrastructure (PSA and well water, electricity and septic), concession stand, restrooms and storage buildings, road and parking, and 3 ball fields, making it self-sufficient and sustainable. The Field of Dreams is currently in need of the fourth field and final baseball field. The estimated cost to prepare and construct the backstop/control fence, and erect safety extensions on top of all fences is $42,000.
