Help my sister and her family

Viviana “Viv” Samiotes is a loving wife, amazing mom to twin 3-year-old girls, and a dedicated early childhood educator. Up until recently, Viv was a teacher in the preschool where her daughters attend. Morah Viv (“morah” is Hebrew for teacher) is beloved by the children, their parents, and her colleagues. Viv brings sunshine and joy to her family, her workplace, and everywhere she goes. In early December 2022, Viv contracted COVID-19. She had a particularly bad case that landed her in the ICU for more than a week. While in the hospital, Viv developed limited use of the left side of her body. Viv is recovering at home with the support of visiting nurses and home physical therapy. Viv still has limited mobility on her left side and is using a walker. She also experiences nerve pain, body weakness, and severe fatigue. Viv has a good team of specialists and is continuing to undergo testing. Our collective wish is for Viv to make a full recovery and to rejoin our school community. Viv is unable to work and has officially resigned her teaching position for the remainder of the school year. This loss of income, coupled with added expenses for Viv’s medical treatment and more hours of childcare, is posing a huge financial burden to the family. They are now limited in income to George’s salary, but they also have the added costs of medical copays, childcare, and in-home care for Viv. Funds raised will help tremendously toward those costs, as well as basic household costs, such as bills, groceries, gas, and everyday expenses. Viv is unable to provide any physical care for their girls or contribute effort toward household chores. Viv’s mom and sister and George’s parents have been taking turns visiting and helping with childcare, shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundry, and dishes. However, the family will soon be adjusting to life on their own, and that leaves George solo to provide all of the care for Viv and the girls and the household tasks. Funds raised could be used not only for bills and routine expenses, but also for ordering meals in, having groceries delivered, and sending out laundry.
