Olive

Our beautiful daughter Olive is 2 years 5 months. She hasn’t had the best start, but she is a little fighter and never gives up. We first noticed something wasn’t right when she didn’t meet her milestones like smiling, sitting up and crawling, with numerous trips to the hospital and doctors we are still not any further forward.

We know Olive’s brain is different but all the other tests so far are coming back clear. Olive is partially sighted with restricted movement and 6th nerve palsy. Olive walks a very little amount and only in her familiar surroundings. Olive has a very limited amount of understanding and no communication, recently being told she might never talk properly or at all. She may not speak but she is very vocal and likes to make herself known. We as a family do everything for her and wouldn’t have it any other way.

We have nearly lost Olive a number of times, she turnt blue due to choking at 6 weeks old we think this down to poor mouth muscles. She became unresponsive at 16 weeks old because of pneumonia, and more recently she had a seizure that lasted 1 hour 23 minutes to which she had to be ventilated.

We still don’t have any answers as to what is going on, she is now on the autism pathway.

Everyone she meets she manages to get them wrapped round her little finger, Olive loves clapping and will do this all day long. Olive struggles when we are out and can quite quickly become overwhelmed.

To help us Bampy Cats (Steve) would like to do a fundraiser to help us buy Olive a disability pushchair. Hers is no longer suitable, she’s too tall, can escape and tip hers over. Because Olive can’t walk more than a few steps and has no awareness of danger it has become very difficult to go out at all and dangerous for her. We would love to go out more as a family, especially her big brother Ralphy. We know times are hard for everyone at the moment, but any help would be very much appreciated.
