I am a Child Advocate volunteer in San Antonio (CASA) When children have been removed from their homes by Child Protective Services, the parents are allowed to visit the children at a government building for an hour or so per week. The situation is very stressful for both the parents and the children and this visitation area is very depressing. The walls are drab tan, the furniture is often broken and this environment makes a bad situation worse. I am working with CPS, CASA and the non-profit SAY Sí to raise money to paint this room in a child friendly motif and replace the small chairs and tables. SAY Sí has already gotten volunteers to design and paint the room. All I need is money to buy the paint and the little furniture. The summer is the best time to get the volunteers to do the work. I am asking for your help as quickly as possible. Normally the volunteer organization does not start the work until the money is raised. Please help. This is not about whether or not we should remove children or if the government should pay for this effort. It is about children already in a bad situation.
I know I can count on you. Thank you so much!
