CPR 4 Emi

Donation protected

As we remember and honor our precious 13-year old daughter Emily who passed away on September 17, 2018. She passed away in our home after a choking accident after school. She was our special little girl who touched many in this community and redefined the definition of autism. She was diagnosed at age 3 with Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS) and Autism at age 5. She spent much of her time at Parkside Elementary and Parkside Jr High. At the end of 2017 she transferred to Hammitt Elementary School and had begun her 8th grade year at the new Hammitt Junior High School. She loved DVD movies, stuff animals, monarch butterflies and vanilla ice cream. We miss her with all of our hearts and felt that we have a calling to serve others in our community in a meaninful way.

Our primary goal is to begin training others in CPR and sharing our Why with them (Emily's story). We then plan to bring her story to first responders in our community and provide tips as to how to work with special populations, especially those impacted with Autism.

Emily's mom (Dawn) has recently completed Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) "First Responder" training and is beginning her volunteerwork with a local fire/rescue service. She has also completed the American Heart Association (AHA) CPR instructor training on March 2nd. Emily's dad (Ed) is currently working on his Fire Fighter 1 course and continues to served as a volunteer fire fighter and EMT-B for a local fire/rescue service.

In order to start CPR training for others, we have a need to raise funds to purchase equipment and especially the parents of those with special needs. It is expensive to purchase manikins, AED trainers and other ongoing equipment needed (i.e. barrier masks, bag valve masks, textbooks, etc.) to provide this much needed training in our community.  Our goal is train as many people as we can and share Emily's story.

By increasing the number of people CPR trained in our community we can make a difference in the lives of others. I encourage you to get involved and CPR trained!

Thank you in advance for your support and you'll be seeing more from us soon as we begin rolling out training courses. #CPR4Emi
