I want to tell you about my friend Cheri. Cheri is a spunky, brave, oddly outdoorsy, independent joyful single mother of four amazing kids. This year has found her navigating a toxic divorce, losing her home and scrambling to provide a space that allows her children to learn virtually. Each time Cheri has stood on my front steps and shrugged her shoulders as she told me about the latest hit that she had sustained (a failed car transmission, a break in, a house she had loved that fell through), I would pray silently that one day she'd walk up the steps and just tell me that it had worked out. Today, she did. She found the home that she and her family can move to, the address that her ex-husband can never get, the place that her children can process and navigate this next chapter in their lives. 

Cheri stretched in every way possible to make this dream a reality, as she does time and time again. As we take a well deserved, collective pause for the holiday season and usher this truly awful year away, I want to invite you to join me and many other friends and neighbors and giving any amount to this account, which will be given as a reserve for Cheri to cover the costs of moving and help her rebuild her depleted savings. I'd like, for once, for Cheri to not have to worry about anything so if we can cover one month of her rent - $4,200 - especially during a season like this, we'll give her joy, peace and a little bit of well earned comfort.
